A strong dance community's ultimate goal is to unite, educate, mentor, foster joy, promote awareness, and uphold safety and responsibility—values that sustain the community.
Together, we are creating a universal standard for beginners, promoters, DJs, event organizers, and instructors—one that upholds safety, accountability, and awareness as issues arise at our dance venues.
(C.L.E.A.R. Boundaries.org)© – Creating a Respectful & Safe Community Standard (2025) What is C.L.E.A.R. and what does it stand for?
• C – Consent Always: Every dancer has the right to set personal boundaries and give or withdraw consent before, during, or after a dance.
• L – Listen & Learn: Dancers, instructors, DJs, organizers, and individuals should actively listen to concerns and educate themselves on respectful practices.
• E – Empowerment: Everyone should feel empowered to say "no," step away, and report a situation without fear of judgment. When concerns arise, individuals must feel safe speaking up, knowing they will be heard, and meaningful actions can follow.
• A – Accountability: The dance community must hold itself accountable by addressing inappropriate behavior and ensuring that such incidents can be easily reported to trusted community leaders within the events they host.
• R – Respect: A culture of mutual respect ensures that all dancers feel safe, valued, and welcome.
*Adopting CLEAR is voluntary and a foundational guide; however, we hope communities worldwide will embrace these standards to create a safer and more responsible dance environment for all. Community leaders and dancers continuously contribute their additional input to make C.L.E.A.R. an all-encompassing platform.
*C.L.E.A.R. Standards may vary from member to member due to local laws and individual policies.
*Always seek proper legal advice when implementing new policies and standards.
